As part of the West Virginia Association of Pathologists community, you'll be able to give back as well as benefit from the collective knowledge of your peers as we work together to enhance and protect the practice of pathology and patient care.

If we want to continue doing what is best for patients and pathology, it is essential that we have a strong community to communicate with state and local legislators on key issues such as scope of practice and  network adequacy. After all, we are the experts in pathology, and it is our responsibility to share our knowledge with government leaders and help them make good decisions. Your voice helps us make a difference.

Only Active Members have the privilege of voting and holding office. Members will receive benefits of discount on affiliated events and to actively work for the interests of the pathologists in the state.

When you are a West Virginia Association of Pathologists member, you will have opportunities to form long-lasting relationships by networking with your peers. You will be able to share experiences, uncover career opportunities, explore best practices, and discuss emerging topics with other pathology professionals, helping all of us advance our skills and the profession.

Events

Maintaining excellence in your laboratory or practice is an ongoing process. West Virginia Association of Pathologists offers educational programs to help you achieve peak performance every day. Plus, you will be able to interact with a network of fellow pathologists, sharing new knowledge and best practices.

MEMBER LEVELS

Active Fellow Member

  • Physicians of good moral character who are ABP certified and actively practice pathology in the state of West Virginia. Fellow members have the right to vote and to hold office, and may be appointed to committees.

    Due: $50

Associate Member

  • Physicians of good moral character not certified in pathology, non-physicians of a doctoral level of good moral character, or pathologists of good moral character licensed in a state other than WV, who uphold the objectives of the Association. Those granted Associate Member status shall not vote or hold office, but may be appointed to committees.

Junior Member

  • Physicians of good moral character who are actively enrolled in a formal training program in Pathology. Those who are within 3 year of completion of the formal training program and have not yet acquired ABP board certification are also eligible. Junior membership automatically terminates at the end of the membership year. Junior members do not have the right to vote nor to hold office; however, junior members may be appointed to committees and will enjoy the benefits of fellow members.

Emeritus Member

  • Upon application to the Board of Directors, Fellows who have attained the age of 70 may be granted emeritus standing. Fellows who have attained the age of 65, or such age as may be considered appropriate in individual cases by the Board of Directors, and who have retired from the active practice of Pathology, upon application may be granted emeritus standing. Fellows who have attained the age of 60, have retired from medical practice, and have been Fellows for 20 years, upon application may be granted emeritus standing. Emeritus Fellows shall not be required to pay dues and shall not have the right to vote nor to hold office. They may be appointed to committees.

Inactive Fellow Member

  • Physicians of good moral character who does not qualify for Emeritus Fellow, who were active fellow members but have retired from Pathology for reasons acceptable to the Board of Directors. Upon application, such physicians may be granted inactive standing. Inactive fellows are not required to pay dues, do not hold office, are not appointed to committees nor have voting rights. They will otherwise receive other benefits of the society membership.

Membership Year

Membership renewals are due on your anniversary date.

The membership is placed on hold upon non-payment of dues for 3 months, after which it is suspended. All memberships are continuous for as long as state licenses are valid, unless cancelled by non-payment of dues, expulsion, suspension, loss of eligibility to active membership or resignation.
